So as to not waste needless time proving to Aeriel the danger she was in he simply retreated leaving her to her own devices. She was relatively safe so long as she was not near the energies or disposition of a vampire. Her anger formed a barricade to the success needed to rid her of the predations on her soul. He was not of a mind to bend just yet and so the by far better option was to allow her time to realize whom she was and whom she wasn’t. He looked to Xanatos before departing and erecting a barrier around her. She was already protected by him but he would have to make that extra effort and erect a more visible boundary around her.
He knocked aside the mages shielding as easily as he had his body speaking directly to the mind of him. ‘Keep her safe. At all costs.’ He then left as she was arranging her belongings and stirring the very energies that would make her a risk to every vampire she met until she was cured. As she was she would have a better chance of staving off her lethality but until he ended the Baton Rouge vampires responsible she was risk to herself and any Kiss member she happened across. In truth he left so as to not overreact. He was affronted that a vampire would poach. But in truth he had not declared her his in any way that would truly hold up under any scrutiny.
He wasn’t sure it was a thing he was of a mind to do so. She would live yes but power such as hers was a target he didn’t wish to have or to hold. He already carried enough of one simply by his continued existence. While the lie of his line was usually enough to keep all but the most ardent form prying it was in fact a lie. A well told one but a lie all the same. Leaving Xanatos to figure out how to save himself Gates left he would be paying Ms. Hartwell a visit when he was sure to minimize any fallout. Once he was sure which of the several options ahead of them.
