For a few days Tibs wanted to go with everyone to make sure they were safe, but he had to sit and think about it. The more he ran around the more he suffocated them. Tibs did not want to suffocate those who asked for help. So as things calmed over a few days, Tibs offered that everyone if possible take someone with them to make sure they were safe. It was kind of a buddy system but even after a few days that seemed overkill. Tibs returned to his practice he figured that was needed to pay for his bills. Also it kept food in the house so while it was not what he really wanted to do. But his patients needed him and his pride needed him. so his energy was spent trying to help everyone that he could. Oddly enough everyone was calm, a little too calm so he walked into the office.
Tibs took his coffee, walked into the building ready for just about anything. Reby was there looking a tad tired but nothing as bad as it could have been. Tibs had an hour before his first patient, he was an older senior, from ‘nam. Still holding onto the flashes of the nozzles sparks. He was disconnected and despondent, but it was Jim was making progress, he could at least now see people without fearing that they were out to kill him.

Clovis sat across the street from the building for what felt like a million years he was told to watch for a certain man. That man came up bright as life and clear as day. He was big too. He looked like a guy that rassled gators and ate what he pinned without needing a fire to cook it on. Clovis waited until he’d gone round the bend and up into the building he’d been told to watch until he pulled out his phone. It was a nice one and he’d saved up all his catchings to afford it and still needed help getting it. He wiped his hands on his jeans so as the sweat wouldn’t seep into the black plastic.
Flipping he dialed the one number in it. “Yep he’d come by here Mistah Eric he up dere now with that woman who live dere.” Having done the job he was paid for Clovis slipped back into the sidewalk traffic and made his way to the truck that would drive him back to the You’ and send him home to his Mamere she’d be worried something awful but she would be happy that he got his phone and Mistah Eric would make sure the camp would be alright even with the gators running low. Since most of the older boys done went and gone loup it was up to those who could help to make things right.

Tibs was nearly finished as Jim had walked into the door. He was looking like he was getting back, he was falling into that paranoid pit. Tibs watched as he looked over his shoulder and scanned the room. TIbs raised his eyebrow, but didn’t say anything. He wanted to see what was going to happen and how this episode would play out. If he needed to he could have Jim put back into the hospital if he got to far gone. But He smelled a bit off. Tibs wasn’t quite sure what was wrong but Jim smelled as if he was dead even though he was walking and breathing.
Tibs took a deep breath, damn Jim was high on vitamin K. TIbs was obligated to call the rehab center and admit him. as that was the protocol, therapist were not supposed to interact with someone on the stuff. as it was still under study and until it could be determined what withdrawal would look like and what would happen to someone who cut cold turkey. And if there was a safe way to detox. So far the most of the test were inconclusive.
“What happen Jim, you don’t look well. ”
Tibs gritted his teeth on the inside as he was very upset that today took this turn. As TIbs felt powerless to stop it.

Jim rocked back and forth as the dregs of the latest batch eked from his system. He was too old for this. He knew better yet the voices called. He could here the bubble gum popping of blood hitting the packed mud that would have been his tomb had he not had to take a shit. The gook food that he and his squad had been eating to blend in did not agree with him as such once they were as sure as they could be the area was clear he’d dipped into the bush with his shovel and his roll to take the foulest most painful crap he’d taken in hours. The dysentery didn’t help nor the ever present threat and exposure of malaria. It was hell and he walked out of hell into this plastic world where the monsters were in power. He was too old but this stuff made him feel just young enough to do something about it.
He didn’t as part of him knew the monsters were somehow still human but it made him feel as if he could. Looking at the former soldier boy across from him he had to wonder why a strapping boy like him left the service. If not for the hole in his bowels he would have stayed in the service until they drug him out feet first. Things in were real, horrible but real this plastic world was not and its unreality wore on him every day. He knew the soldier boy would have to report him and they would put another article in his jacket but it was worth it. He could feel now and as wrong as it was he liked the feeling he would of course toe the line maybe cut his dose in half so no one would tell but he would not stop.
He smiled having a plan now he would go peaceful like he was saving his muscle for the monsters. He wouldn’t waste them on the men and women who were just doing their jobs. As the orderlies came Jim started to say one thing but what came out was “Walk me down doc, ain’t nobody almost care as much as you. Plus you looking pale long time since PT for you the walk will do you good.”
That’s when all hell broke loose and Jim was too shocked to do anything but watch it happen…

He’d been waiting for what seemed like forever for the man to show up. He’d left his stink all over the foyer as a sign but the man was oblivious. He’d even had a conversation with his assistant as a way to ratchet up the terror and force him to be worried that Eric was everywhere. He simply kept on keeping on. The cocky bastard would regret that with everything he had. As he came out Eric jumped him he’d brought the bat along to make sure the taller man was brought low the first blow catching him somewhere about the ribs the next he rained until he was nearly out of breath. He swung for the fences each blow. He beat until he knew they would both be sore form the activities. He made sure to not hit his head the last thing he needed was a murder case just yet. As long as the cops couldn’t pin a murder on him he would be fine. He did his best to not jostle the witnesses. He wanted them all to see the coast of snitching on him. First he would be a lesson to the others then he would learn a lesson for himself. In both cases Eric would be his teacher.
The group he brought with him while young were beginning to get excited they were all new to the life. Not new enough that they would be overcome by the blood but new enough that they thought Eric was their savior. He taught them what it meant to be a lion. And in his mind the one thing that matter was never ever be a victim. Tibs had taken his business and his boys form him so Eric would stretch this out over weeks months if he could. He would make sur eno one ever tried him again. The things he would do to Tibs would have a a masochist crying. He was going to beat him everyday until he cried for death then he would do worse once he was broken and praying for death.

“Okay Jim, I will walk you down.” Tibs walked him down the stairs, he was focused on getting the elderly man into the van and safely off to the center so that he could get treatment. Once that garbage was out of his system he would have a chance to reconnect to reality. Instead of looking through a cracked lens of fractured supermen and tainted power.
The first blow caught him by surprise. He barely had time to register the first blow before the second came crashing down on him. Tibs felt the change coming, his hands starting to lengthen on reflex before the third blow crashed into his back as he fell like petrified wood. Tibs Saw Jim and swallowed the changed. He curled himself into the fetal position absorbing the blows. While his dense muscular protected him from th worst of the pain, he knew that it was Eric. That had him in this situation. The stink that came from the man was Eric, the bat hurt, but this was no where near the worse beating that he had taken. Hell he took worst beatings from his Systema teacher.
Tibs grunted a bit as the bruising swelled over the injured muscle. Eric was careful to not strike any soft areas like his head spine or joints. This was mostly for show as the kids that were with him whooped and hollered as Eric dished out something that looked much more painful that it was. Tibs allowed his mind to flee from the pain in his body. He would make sure that Eric payed in kind for all of the cruelty that he inflicted on everyone. Tibs had went really still as he reached out to his pride stoking the flame of power that Eric would never know. He would pay for this. Oh he would pay dearly.

They’d checked in last night he did his best not to consider the cost the boss was paying to hold the whole building until they’d got down. His mind was still focused on the she bear that was coming to matter far more than he would have ever thought. Once they all secured their rooms the first stop was reconnaissance of the local Rexes day job. The information they were given was limited and he blamed the boss for that. He was quick to judge a person as in or out of the tomorrow he was building.
It was a good location as the only easily travelable entrance was the front. It was a cul-de-sac that had one way in. With a strong enough force it would be a deadend for anyone that wanted to start trouble. It was poor security as it was a deadend with a quarter mile march to any public space to escape via the back way. Ray didn’t like that but it was what they had to work with. Anita mapped out the easiest way through the mess that was the overgrown foliage and he gps’d it so they could find it later if they needed it.
The research was worth it as they reverse mapped the route and came to the route. When they got to the location they found the new Rex taking a beating instead of the bracing they would normally slap down Anita and the east coast guys split off wide and covered the enemy. Instead of drawing down Ray took point and tackled the guy with the bat while Santiago and Raphael covered the younglings. Ray cursed as he slipped his rotator. Ray was used to the pain so instead of staying down he grabbed and wrenched the batmans testes as he wrestled to his feet. As he stood first he kicked the guy in the head his boots leaving a bruise before the guy managed to get to his feet.
He wasn’t down for the count but it established distance which was all he needed as he retreated to grounded rex. As he did Specter eased in and levelled his glock against the mans head if he moved a hair too much his brain would be a splatter on Rays shoes.

Tibs was busy counting all the ways he would pay Eric back as he heard a scuffle. Tibs looked up at to see that the Eric was busy wrestling with another guy. He smelled of ionized air and underneath that carbon dioxide. He was a big city dweller. Could he be in luck, was this Heiro’s reinforcements. Tibs had hoped so as they were all lions and they cleared the playing field. It evened things up a lot. Since Eric wanted to play mental games Tibs would play as well. A snear came across his face that melted into unreadable lines.
When the other man came over to help him to his feet Tibs, making a show of how battered he was for Jim’s benefit. He limped Jim into the van. As the van pulled off in a hurry, in true keyser sose fashion once the van was far enough away he shook off the limp.
Tibs looked down at Eric. He dared to attack him at his place at work. He tried to out him to the public take away his legitimate business. The thought enraged him.
“Thanks, I owe you one.”
Tibs looked at Eric and the young gaggle of pups he brought with him. He would really piss Eric off by embarrassing him infront of his new youngish crew. That would send him into a rage making it easier to deal with him later. Tibs would play down to his level. Pulling his power to enough so that seemed he was much weaker than he actually was.
“You toothless son of a bitch. You are not a lion, you’re a jackal. And Ill show you exactly how toothless you are.”
Tibs squat next to Eric and said low enough so that Eric would be the only person to hear it without straining.
"what you did, to everyone here I despise that and you as well, What i'm about to do is going to hurt alot, you can scream if you want, but I would prefer if you didn't."
Tibs knowing it would take more blunt force trauma to achieve his effect, he drew upon Chidera’s blinding rage to help calm his stomach. What he wanted to do made him sick but it was what he had to do to get his point across. that he could be just as big a monster as Eric. If he didn't scare anyone then Eric could continue on his rampage and the others would cave just to settle Eric down. So he took from Chidera sleeping form the rage and hate to want to wantonly hurt someone without remorse. Tibs stomped and kicked Eric, but only in his mouth until he spit teeth on to the street. When his mouth was a bloody broken wreck. Taking just enough rage to not lose control but to make it believable. One of the other Vindex’s bought the act as they grabbed Tibs from behind and pulled him off of Eric. He told Tibs that it couldn’t go down like that, he would not let him execute him, he had to fight him but it had to be a fair fight.
Tibs looked over the cubs that Eric had brought with him. where they were cheering their hero beating tibs, the smiles and laughter was replaced with a look of horror and some with abject terror as they was fairly sure they were next. as that was the lesson that Eric taught. beat your enemy and all those that are close to him. when Tibs eyes fell on one of the boys he quickly stepped closer to one of the Vindexes hoping that they would protect him. They were cut from the bully cloth, they could attack in group but singled out they folded instantly.
Standing up Tibs spoke loud enough so that all of them could hear a king at least once.
"You have two days to leave my territories as the rogue you are or challenge me at my pridehouse. if you want to challenge me for leadership be at my house tomorrow night 9 pm. now crawl out of my sight."
Tibs turned him back on Eric and walked back to the orignal Vindex that tackled Eric first.
"The names Tibodaux. thanks for the save." Tibs wondered if that was a little too much. he would see. as no one had told him exactly how to do it.
"lets head back to my office."

Eric was as angry as could be but short of having his brains plastered over the sidewalk there was nothing he could do. He marked each of their faces and scents once he did away with Tibs he would make sure each of them would live to regret this. He didn’t recognize any of them. He knew they were new and he had to admit underneath the anger was a begrudging respect the would be good guy went and get himself some out of town reinforcements. Judging by how they moved and operated they each and all did this sort of thing for a living. He would get what information he could from Tibs before he sent him on his way to hell.
As Tibs leaned in and gave his private speech Eric began to laugh. He knew he would be hurt but his boys needed to know no one could beat him. This would be a set back but he would instruct them why this was not a loss. He would make sure their faith wasn’t destroyed. He laughed even as his beast threatened to claw its way to the surface. The pain was enough and the mess made of his face was gruesome. He knew he’d swallowed at least three death. But he laughed and spit blood and took the beating he’d given.
This he understood. This he knew he had taken beatings and relished everyone as they made him stronger and he came back with a vengeance. This wouldn’t be any different. And now that guns were in play he would make sure he shot first. As hs vision blurred form the pain he tried standing the gun to his head forcing him back to his knees. The man was strong and willing to do exactly what Eric would. He would make an example. But he was failing he wanted a challenge on his terms Eric would be there alright but first he would make him sorry for not killing him right now. Well first he would heal. There would be a hunt tonight and every night until Eric was at one hundred percent then he would come for him. He knew where he worked the Pride House he had no clue where that was but he would find it. He would rain hellfire and damnation on all the traitors that joined Tibs and get the information. Then he would take everything from him.
Eric nodded as his laugh was nothing but a gurgling mass of blood and pulpy bone and other matters Eric wouldn’t care to know. He stood when he was allowed his vision wavering. He packed a punch well kick to be honest that was for sure. But it was fine Eric had the measure of him and would make sure he was prepared next time they faced each other. Pulling the one who shirked who shrank to him Eric shook his head. It was the only wraning the boy Stephen got as Eric poured his lion into the boy forcing him to shift. As he did Eric pulled everything back into himself as he through his arm over the nearest lad and then began guiding them away to leave the new Rex to deal with a shifting scared lion who saw him as far scarier than Eric.
Having overheard the exchange between Tibs and hiss help he knew that they wouldn’t shoot at least not this time and not in the back. So Eric walked away knowing this was far from over.

He nodded his response at the thanks and waited on what he knew was coming. The rex had to make a spectacle he had to push the other to officially challenge him so that he could choose the weapon that would give him the most advantage. Some chose metaphysics others chose no holds barred still others chose something that was least destructive to the Pride. He wondered what this one would choose once the challenge was issued.
Ray knew the Rex was hurt not as much as he let on as he felt several connections in him that would give him an edge. One of which smelled suspiciously like Eliachem and it made Ray want to let these two hash things out here so he could be on a plane back to Dani sooner rather than later. It wasn’t that he had a bias against vampires but after watching that one bed the lioness he’d run through and make moves that would make Loki proud he’d had his fill of vampires for a while at least.
He knew this was a battle of wills and the Rex wouldn’t take things too far as he knew even as almost out of the way was this place there would be witnesses. He was willing to allow the man to prove his dominance in any way he could without going too far. He watched the others grow queasy at the fact this was happening . They were under the impression that the previous jobs worked would be this one. There wouldn’t always be a clear cut ‘Bad guy’ and ‘Good guy’ and even if there were they wouldn’t always be working with the one they wished. He didn’t care as in the end he trusted Hiero. He had earned it and so Ray would do the job to the best of his ability and never look back unless he had to. So far he hadn’t had to revisit any of the Prides they helped he even kept tabs occasionally via email or phone calls. So far this thing that was being built had a good foundation. He hoped it would continue in the way it was but maybe this one would be different.
He was surprised that the Rex issued the challenge. It was breaking precedent but he could tell this one was young. He was headstrong that was for sure and Ray hoped they were backing the right dog in this fight but in the end it didn’t matter those decisions were above his head. So guiding the group back away from the scene he had them backtrack through the brush back to their waiting SUV away from the doctor’s office as that was sure to be hit by the police soon. He’d spotted several lights in the buildings around the cul-de sac go dark or light up with the commotion raised. Not being around for questions would be a good thing as even a cop deaf dumb and blind would see the healing bruises on the Rex and begin to poke at the why how who and when.
Having not been to the Pride house here he would need to get directions calling over his shoulder he asked. “How do we get you home and where is your Venatorious? We have to secure those areas then scout your challengd lions places you got any clue about those?”

Aminta had stayed at the Pride house only leaving to get a few of her things form her apartment. She was still more skittish than she wanted to be. She still felt raw. The bruises were gone her muscles were knitted yet she was still far more spooked than she should have been. Eric was out there in the world somewhere and could pop up anywhere. She knew how deeply the cops had their heads up their asses. They were easy enough to avoid if you knew there habits.
She hadn’t spoken with Tibs as the time hadn’t permitted. She knew how difficult being a leader could be. She knew it aged those who took the management and care of anybody into their hands. Add into the problematic mix the fact that the people he chose to care for were prone to violent outburst could throw motorcycles when they got angry or simply run screaming through walls if they were scared and it was a job she wouldn’t wish on anyone. There were other issues that came from such positions the weight and the responsibilities the trusts built and kept. It was enough to make her wonder why anyone would want the job but every day there were men and women fighting, killing, and dying for those positions. It was what it was and she didn’t question what strength of character could drive a man to do what Tibs was doing. If it were her she would have left Eric to the city and fled.
She was however not a leader. She knew she didn’t have what it took and so she wouldn’t build anyone’s faith she wouldn’t have people invest in her. She was a thief of things not people’s emotions their faith, trusts, or worse their idea of their futures. A leader would insure all of those things were possible and failure meant the destruction of all of the above including and not limited to just those that were led but everyone who dealt with the. She pushed what that meant out of her head. She was willing to put her faith and trust in Tibs and Pepper. She missed her family yet knew she wasn’t the staying type. She had learned in her time that family Pride could be what it was made to be. She knew she could continue her life and share in theirs.
To that end she retrieved her computer and set up a work station at the Pride house she went about incorporating nearly every facet of Tibs business. If he was going to protect all of them she would do everything she could to protect him. He was the king after all. She knew there was the matter of an official challenge but she had every faith that Tibs would be the last one standing. He would be the leader of the Pride and the man to which his entire land as far as lions would answer to.

AS the endorphins wore off, and the misty cloud of rage thinned Tibs head began to clear. Giving the address of the pride house to the man that helped him Tibs summoned his beast he called upon it to take away the beast of the boy that Eric left to cause havoc as he made his escape. It was unneeded and c childish to force the boy to shift, Tibs knew that it would hurt a lot and the boy would more than likely pass out for a few hours afterwards but he didn’t really have a choice. He canceled the boy’s change and watched as the child hit the floor exhausted.
“I guess I’ll take him back to the pride house to heal. Just one more sin for Eric to atone for.”
The number of reasons that TIbs would have to cripple Eric destroying his beast forever was getting close to critical mass. TIbs was thinking about how to maim him when he shook that thought away that was odd, it was not a thought that Tibs would have normally though, it was a particularly dark thought that was the problem with rage as one sipped from that well the more the poison spread. Tibs would only sip from her rage once more and that would be if he needed to End Eric, as he would need to make a show of it.
Taking the boy in the truck Tibs drove the boy back to the pride house to see where he could stash the boy. The bruises that Tib had covered his body of course they were superficial and would heal in a few minutes, but to make sure that they didn’t kink and bunch Tibs was going to soak in the tub until he healed.

As Tibs loaded the whelp into the car with him Ray shoo i=his head. It was a soft hearted move. It was why he knew for all of his strength he would in his opinion would not make a good Rex and why he avoided it like the plague. The boy was a would be enemy and had to learn what that meant. Yeah he was a tool a potential weapon and the first thing you did in war was sabotage the enemies weapons. Not his call to make they were here to make sure that Tibs made to his challenge and after that see to it that anyone who thought he would be a victim would find the error of their ways.
“I guess it is.” Was all Ray said as he wheeled them through back roads according to the GPS to their destination. He didn’t bother to make small talk and neither did anyone else. The boy was out or seemed to be but his ears still worked. It was a bit much but he knew he talked in his sleep sometimes and therefore others could definitely listen in theirs.
The new Rex was a kinder man than him and that earned some respect but Ray was Ray and would even if he’d brought the boy along would have kept him as a prisoner. Didn’t mean the new Rex wouldn’t but he doubted that he would. He wore his feelings on his sleeve. Ray simply drove turning on the radio as they neared the Pride house. As they disembarked the firey dirty blonde rshing from the house made him smile like nothing else. She had as much metaphysical might as the boy though he was sure hers was backed by far more control.
Ray chuckled as the other Vindexes began paring down to their third line gear." You don’t box do you sweetheart. He’s doing the Rope-a-dope. He’s suckering the other guy into thinking he won and then gonna hit him with a few combo’s and put him on his back."
Ray was a street warrior so he was already down to his third line gear. The stopped looking at the massive building inhaling the scent of lions and taking a second to enjoy that not the smell of dissipated fear. "If your cooking is as spicy as your personality I’ll order pizza.” Ray joked as he nodded to specter to take point on the ground search. All this foliage and greenery made him want to hunt which he was expecting was the purpose. So that meant there were traps and other things out there at least judging by the fact there wasn’t a fence or any other security features.

Tibs couldn’t help but smile. She was small but incredibly hostile he loved it. As he shook his head at pepper. “that’s our pepper. Humans were present can’t let the guy out me so I lose my license to practice besides it only hurt some. But Eric is truly pissed off now, and really thinks that I am an easy mark. The challenge is tomorrow, but he might try something tonight. But he’s all but giftwrapped. Well the kid, when he wakes up, I need you to talk to him see where he’s act and what you could get out of him. as I need to know where he’s from and how is he infected as young as he is. Then I’ll figure out what to do with the kid. That would allow Pepper to draw her attention the kid and not to Tibs as he just wanted to soak in and sleep.
Walking up the stairs He looked to see if Amiata was in the room or if she had left. Either event Tibs could understand so he was calm for the most part she was just frightened and tired of the fear Tibs could understand that completely. So depending on his motives and what he was there to doTibs would decide to keep him around or send him back where he came from.
