He looked up at the moon above him, glad that it was a new moon. His beast moved inside him and, though he was starting to love it after five years, it had moments where it unnerved him. The new moon meant that he was less on edge with his wolf so it made the stress of this whole situation easier. He stopped the car in front of the address that he written on the paper, looking up at the building. It was a nice hotel, he would admit that, but he didn't think that he would be staying here long. He made a note to find an apartment or house as soon as possible. He really needed to get his stuff out of storage.
He pulled his phone out of his pocket, seeing a text from both of his kids on there, asking in their own way if he had made it. Sometimes he questioned who was the parent. A quick text back to each to let them know that he had arrived, and he was heading into his hotel. He promised to send them information about where he was staying as soon as he got the room set up. He knew that Vivian would hound him if he didn't send her the information. She was the kind to call every hotel in the city until she found him. That was what he loved about her.
Walking up to the front door, he moved through the cluster of people gathered in the lobby to the front desk, talking to the guy there and getting a simple room. He didn't need much and told the man so. Just a bed, a bathroom, and access to food somewhere. This hotel gave him all that for as long as he needed it. And he was hoping it wasn't long as he walked through the hotel and out onto the balcony to look at the city. This was where his new life began.

Aeriel slowed to a stop in front of the building her phone was telling her was her destination. As she looked it up and down from the inside of her car she nearly thought better of it. She was trying to again go off the grid not stay on it but she was tired. All she really wanted was a nice warm bed and a hot shower to wash away some of the stress she was under.
Pulling into a nearby parking space she slide out from behind the wheel of her beat to hell Toyota. She was going to have to dump the faithful if not frustrating car soon. But for now she headed into the lobby to get herself a room. It had been decided earlier in the day that when she finally stopped she would use a fake name and pay only in cash in case that old dead vampire managed to track her this far south. Hopefully he wouldn't but she couldn't be to careful even in a town crawling with supernatural beings.
Aeriel waited in line until it was her turn to secure herself a room. After being given her key card she asked the man if there were perhaps any outdoor areas she could go to. After being pointed in the right direction she stepped out onto the balcony and immediately spotted the only other human being already at the railing.
She didn't want to intrude but it was public space so she really didn't care. Pulling out her cell she sent her mother a text telling her she had landed and she would wait a few days before calling. It was always easier to send a single message to her mom rather then sending the same thing over and over again. She walked over to a table and seated herself with her eyes on the man.

It was truly beautiful and Rune was more than happy that he had chosen this city to start his new life. It was everything that he had hoped it would be when he had chosen it at random. A new start for a life that he hoped he could have so that he wouldn't have to worry about his children. They were doing well, and he would always worry about them, but they needed to live their own lives, and they kept informing him that he need one outside of them. He didn't know why they would think that he didn't have a life, but then he would think about it and realize that it was true. For the last fifteen years, he had been involved in nothing but his kids. And he would do it again.
He sighed and leaned against the railing of the balcony, lost in thought. He took a deep breath and caught the scent of a human female, turning his head to the side and looking at the young woman with her cell phone. He turned back to the city and looked up at the sky, knowing that he had a while before the new moon became full, but he still had this urge to let the wolf howl at it. It was one of those things that he knew his wolf wanted to do, but he merely pushed it down because it would be a very bad idea to do that with a human so close.
His phone went off again and he sighed, pulling it from his pocket and letting out a laugh at the very inappropriate text from his son telling him to find him a woman and get laid. Yeah, like that was on Rune's mind. He glanced behind him, feeling the eyes of the woman on him, and ran his fingers through his long blond hair. ”New Orleans is definitely a beautiful city, very warm too. I wonder if it's always this humid.” It was all he could think to talk about. Unless they were lycan like him, he rarely had anything to say to other people. One of the perks of trying to be a different man. He just had to see how that worked, if it worked at all.

Aeriel's eyes were still on the man when his phone went off. She watched rather intently when he pulled it out and laughed at whatever was on the screen. Whether he sent a reply or not she didn't know because shortly after he got his she got her own text. All her mother said was ok and that she loved her. She hadn't expected much but she had thought there would be more but apparently not. Whatever she thought at least her family knew she was alright. For the moment that was.
When the guy turned around to look back at her she smiled briefly and nodded her head in agreement. The place was beautiful but the only way it would get better in her book was if she wasn't forced to leave. Aeriel blinked at him when he asked if it was always humid. Was he an idiot? The city was situated pretty close to the coast so it would stand to reason it would be, at least during the summer. She wasn't sure about winter however. But how best to answer him without sounding patronizing. "Well sir, I can imagine it would always be this humid at least during the summer months. I couldn't tell you about the winter season. Never been near the coast when its cold. Maybe you should ask somebody local?"
She got up from the chair she had been sitting in and went to join him at the railing.
