The plane landed with a thump and a skip. Terrence slowly took out his left ear bud. As the unseen pilot’s voice came from the loud speak. Same instruction the came from every flight. Terrence wondered why they didn’t bother getting the lot of them together and whoever gave the best speaker just record that one voice and call it square. It would be just one more system that would be easier to decipher than whatever was garbled from this southerner Terrence often wondered why no one had thought of that he wasn’t from the south so the accent was just a repeated crashing of syllables, and were rammed into one another until they lost all foundation of the word that they were supposed to be. Ah well he wasn’t a southerner, then again he wasn’t American depending on who you asked. Hawaii was still not really considered a part of the union to some.
Some of his older clients said such nonsense, even though they didn’t think him as one of their own, once they saw the platoon pictures, he instantly became their brother in arms. It was funny how the military work, If you served then you were a brother no matter what, however if you were a civvie then you were an outsider. He missed some of the old timers already, but it was either this or something much worst. And Terrence would rather die and be reborn as Tiber then to murder a man in cold blood because he saw what most civvies saw. A soldier was a killing machine, that was even before the lycanthropy and Terrence would not kill unless no other options were available. It just was not his way. He believed in the sacredness of life. We were more than just the beast that hid in our skin.
Waiting for his bags Terrence practiced on saying his new name, Tiber, Tiberius? Tibodeux…
“Well the name’s Tiberius but you can call me Tiber” Meh he thought to himself.
“Well the name’s Tibodeux but you can call be Tiber…” either works I guess he thought to himself.
Grabbing his bag he turned on his heel and began to walk out of the airport into the warm night air.

Chidera was now officially Shenchal of the kiss which meant her duties included knowing who and what was coming and going in the city. So knowing through the grapevine they were getting a new lion meant she had to be at the airport when he arrived to check him out. She wouldn't engage unless need be but it was a precaution they needed right now especially with the other things that had hit her proverbial radar.
She let her aura flex and used the ability to appear human to get her through the terminal unnoticed for the most part. Vampires stood out and got to much attention for what she wanted, someone always wanted to snap pictures and or shake hands with a real live undead person. Damned tourists, they were wonderful most times but others a nuisance and you couldn't eat them all. Watching the arrivals and smiling as he disembarked, she stalked him silently and kept close.
They were cute when they talked to themselves, but this one. She couldn't put her finger on it, he felt different to her like he was more than just some lion. She paused and tried to think on what it could be but Chidera felt a strange tug like there was some string being pulled and he was on the other end of it. That was disconcerting to the normally calm and unshakable vampire. Now she needed to fallow and see what this feeling was and if it got worse closer, closing the space between and catching up as he stepped out into the night air but she had no clue what she'd say.
Trying to think of something, anything biting her lip then speaking so as not to spook him and pause him so she could let him see her" hey can I bum a cig?"
Soft internal sigh..she didn't even smoke.

Terrance turned slightly on his heel, He looked towards the sound of the woman’s voice. She was gorgeous. Small, Dark and unearthly beautiful, and by unearthly the word dead comes to mind… wait undead that was the political term that was used these days.
“I’m sorry gorgeous but I do not smoke.”
Terrence said as he took a step to his left putting her at a slight distance. The muscles in his arm tensed involuntarily, He figured that she knew he was a tourist, he was unsure about the rules in the bayou, but he wasn’t in the mood to be a happy meal. Besides he didn’t know her like that. If she was to lunge he would be ready to catch her and gently push her away. He had no want to injury her, but if they were violent like this down south then he would have to make an example out of a few of them so that he would be left alone.
“So um… are you just getting in or are you waiting for someone?”
Terrence asked not really sure he liked to stand in silence with a strange vampire. She could easily have walked her own way but if she would be willing to stand around the least he could do was to provide conversation to help the time pass. She seemed nice enough but until he was set up in the pride house he thought it would be best to as courtly as possible.
“So… Do you hang around the airport often or would you be a believer in coincidence?”
Terrence felt a sense of unease for the vampire standing next to him, she was strong enough that she could take what she wanted from most people, not that Terrence was most people. She was strange standing there, she stood like a Spinx standing unreadable to him. The safest thing was to keep her talking until he could piece together her purpose.

" Truth be told I do not either I just needed to see you closer"
Biting her lip softly she remained still not wanting him to feel like dinner, she'd fed already and sniffed the air. Eyes closing and swaying in place, yes there was something about this one that was different. " you are an alpha correct?"
She was waiting for someone, him actually and it was funny he should ask" yes I am waiting to welcome our new lion to the city as per the masters requests. you wouldn't happen to be that lion would you?"
Her words were so low that no passing human would hear them but he would hear them as if she said them out loud and clear. He smelled like big cat and finding she could reach a part of her aura out to him brushing along his beast it looked up at her and scented the air. She smiled, seems someone from her birth place wanted to say hello. She'd seen the wild counterpart running the planes as a child, roaming free and now with amber eyes on her it made sense that of all beasts she'd come to control it would be the one she had grown up with.
Eyes on him now smiling, wondering if he felt it. The pull to his beast, speaking up" i honestly mean you no harm at all. It is just my job as third in command to keep an eye on things and you hit my radar as something of interest, I needed to be here to welcome you in person and make sure no one else harmed you. Not that we expected such but you never know. I am chidera and I already heard your..name"
She paused when she said it because she knew it was not his real name as someone having only recently gaining her own back she could tell he was still getting used to this new one.

“Well I am glad that you don’t smoke dreadfully unhealthy. Would hate for you to become ill.”
Tiber said as a joke. It was very odd that she was waiting for him, very strange indeed. He had not told anyone that he was coming here nor although he had kept his head down, he figured he would be somewhat insignificant to the vampires in the area. While yes he was a lycanthrope and yes he was an alpha level lycanthrope, for what it was worth anyways. He had just decided to stay when he closed on the plantation house few months ago. It had took most of his life saving to buy and renovate the place making it inhabitable again.
“I guess I am a powerful lion, as far as I was able to tell. I could only compare myself to those who were around me. That and bus ticket can get you across town. If you get my drift? I’m not sure why you would be waiting on me, I didn’t think I would really figure into you or your master’s plans. As I’m not really one to raise a lot of trouble.”
Tiber said because as far as he cared, the size and strength of the beast was really only good for show. He was much more practical, the biggest strongest beast can still be killed with a silver knife between the ribs or an MKA-1919 loaded with silver slugs or shot. Which is what he had at the plantation house his was specially modified with a twenty round drum. It was a definitely illegal in the on the island, the south seemed both more and less so. Tiber believed in non violence, however he wasn’t a fool. In some cases he would need to use his hands, the ten years special forces training and the five in Russian Systema kept his body sound, however more than one occasion after he physically beat his opponent he to be more than forceful to end the fight. The gash on his upper pelvis after a fight in South Compton reminded him the only winners were the one who walked away.
His beast looked up as he was lost in thought. It raised its head and sniffed the air. Tiber could feel its regal bearing as it stood, it was not intent on engaging or actively looking to do anything just taking in the sights. It smelled her aura, then lain back down. If it felt she posed a threat or had any malice in her heart at the moment it would have rose to the occasion. So at lease she was telling the truth she was not intent on doing him harm, tension drained away from his forearms. He was ready to defend himself but his cat felt she meant no harm he would trust it. It hadn’t lied to him yet. Of course that was the only thing that had been true.
“I would like to thank you for the welcome, but I am fine. You can tell your master I thank him, however if I needed an official escort whenever I entered and left a territory I would not be much of an Alpha. So you can be officially discharged from the duty that your master had wished of you.”
Tiber looked her over again. He wondered what Vampires did when they were not on duty. He had honestly never spent much time around them so he was curious.
“Now that you are no longer on duty, what is there to do around here? If you would like to hang out that is a different thing entirely, that I have no problems with, but if it is your job to be hear please as I would rather be alone than be the fulcrum that keeps you from doing something else.”

" while you might not believe you are of importance we are in a time of rebuilding and need to make sure our leaders are of a good type even if you dont think you are anything of notice. "
Hearing him she laughed softly it was a warm sound and she was careful not to flash fang at him. He underestimated him self it seemed, but she could almost smell the warrior in him. Her warrior could tell, the tactician in her could see everything in how he moved and relaxed when she offered him no harm. It was very nice, she smiled again and fought the urge to circle him appraisingly. There would be time for such fun things later, the refusal of an escort caused her to nod her head.
" well then I suppose I can clock off duty if I'm needed I will know it."
Tapping her head meaning she would be summoned, mentally. Stepping just a bit closer, liking his beast and wanting it to pay more attention. Thinking on what he said " well depends on what you feeling the night is young theres food places theres music places and theres food and music places. Less you wanna learn all about voodoo"
She chuckled gently waiting to see just what he'd say to that last one, he seemed like the type to like a good bite to to eat but shed keep him away from Christian's it wasnt safe for someone so good looking and powerful to walk in there if he didn't know the rules.

“I still smell like an outsider, but if that isn’t a problem for you then It works for me.”
It would be nice if she was actually here, not in any formal capacity, not to attempt him to do anything but just to be someone he could get to know. Being new to the city required him to get to know the ins and outs as quickly as he could. And to have a guide would be nice, beside Tiber had a hard time trying to think of a better person. To show him around. He had heard stories about vampires and how they were master manipulator, but as long as the business end stayed low and far away he was game to interact with anybody.
“I am not the shaman type, too much frenetic energy and wanderlust. Although this is home, I do enjoy a good road trip.”
Tiber opened himself up just a crack. He could not expect much if he refused to offer anything. So he opened doors just to see who would be curious enough to walk through them. His beast seemed fine almost content that this human, this vampire was in his personal space. It nudged him to move a big closer like she was a warm hearth on a cool night just enough to keep the chill t bay.
“Since you are off duty Chidera, and you don’t eat…meat let’s just enjoy some good music as its no fun to eat alone.”
It was something about this vampire that seemed more inviting than it should have been. Perhaps that was the master’s plan. Use a vampire with great welcoming skills to draw everyone in, Tiber smiled at the sheer silliness of it. It sounded like something for a made for T.V movie. Perhaps what he heard was not all there was. Much like any other stereotype. He would play it by ear until he understood the vibe of the city and of the vampire community.
“Well my lady where are we going first?”

Using it as an excuse to smell him further she smiled and sniffed along his skin," Im not from here either but now I live here as well and you smell fine to me"
Winking and then thinking about where to take him and remembering Nighthawk's it had good music and some food incase he changed his mind on eating and she could even find a willing meal if she wanted. Nodding and noticing his lion moved closer she grinned again and reached a hand out to brush his arm. Not trying to seduce and not sent to be bait it really was her job to check in on new arrivals to the city. Now that she had done that she could do other things like enjoy some free time.
" Nighthawks has it all food booze music so it would cover all the bases and on the way I can point out other points of interest. You got a vehicle or should we take mine?"
Gates had a small contingent of cars with drivers and she'd gotten one for the evening tho most places you could reach by walking if you liked. Waiting to see what he would do, lip licked enjoying the night air as people came and went. Hair blowing in the heavily scented night time breeze.

Tiber watched as the woman stepped closer and inhaled the air about him. As she smelled him he as unobtrusively as possible committed her scent to memory. Now he would be able to find her with his eyes closed if needed. Normally he only did that for people he liked. And at this moment he was really unsure of what bucket to place her in. Once he was sure if would refresh her scent. It was in this way he committed friends to his memory and to his beast’s memory.
She was a definite curiosity as far as vampires went there was a definite sense of purpose about her, She also had a certain fire to her. Her stance, the way she moved said as much, but beyond that there was something, it was that something that Tiber was unsure of. He hope to catch a glimpse or two of whatever it was that hid behind that fire.
Being no stranger to danger or pain, Tiber was willing to allow her more than enough room to either make herself at home in his life or hang herself on her failings. Tiber was fine with it in either case as he felt it was better to be feel the pain of betrayal than to feel the safety of the nothingness of being nice an safe because he refused to let anyone in. While he was not looking for a romantic entanglement, Tiber was comfortable enough in his skin to allow people to get as close as felt comfortable.
“If you are find with the recycled airplane air, then I’m good as well.” Tiber said with a smile.
If this was a precursor to what he could expect in the city, then he was most assurently home. This nighthawks place seemed safe enough if this was the first place Chidera chose that normally meant it had some value to her at least.
“Nighthawks sounds really good. “

Nodding then and walking for the black sedan, opening the trunk to let him place his things and sliding in so he wouldn't feel he was being tricked some how. waiting for him to get in, then smiling because they would have to sit closer together. She liked the feeling of his lion and it was easy to want to be closer.
Peeking at him through the fringe of her lashes then showing him several places once the car started moving. The restaurant owned by the big shot celebrity chef, a few hotels and cafes. Telling him what the locals said as far as the best places to eat both price and portion wise. Then some of the smaller cemeteries and "haunted" places.
Then they pulled up she let him get out first and fallowed behind, pushing the door open as he walked through and smiling wide. It was Zydeco, three dollar beers and all you can eat oyster night. Couldn't get much more gulf coast then that, the lively music had the small dance floor packed with wiggling bodies. The bar even had people sitting on it,she walked for a free booth that would let them see it all. Door bar floor and the comings and goings to the kitchen.
Chidera did not like to be snuck up on so event though she was off duty her training kept some things unshakeable. Ordering a red stripe with extra red she would wait for him to decide what he wanted, then turned to face him better once the waiter left." Seems this is a good night to join the crescent city they musta known someone amazing was coming."
The wink was playful and teasing but sincere enough.

Tiber walked a quarter step behind Chidera towards the car. Once he figured out where there were going he walked even with her. Tossing his items in the truck he slide into the back seat. Her sliding in next to him was an added bonus that he had not seen. She moved closer to him in the car normally if it was someone else they may have felt uncomfortable as it intruded on personal space, however Tiber did not have any concerns about personal space, especially when it came to the opposite sex.
Taking mental note of all the placed she mentioned and the locations Tiber thought to visit each one individually at some point in the coming weeks. He was not going to rush but more or less a month long bucket list for later. The haunted places he would more than likely pass on as his upbringing revered spirits and to see or feel their unhappiness would be discomforting. If they were so unhappy that they could not pass on to their families and friends that was a woeful situation. Tiber would avoid those den of sorrows. He smiled at Chidera as she mentioned the locations, keeping his counsel to himself. If she were to glimpse his mind she would see the images of his grandmother doing rituals to appease the dead so that they could cross over and her scolding him if he did not respect the dead.
They pulled up to this place that looked off the beaten tourist path. The building itself had the used feel about it, unlike the prepackaged locations that are shoved down the tourist throats. It was a small den what would be called a Wahi inu lama or local bar.
“This is a nice….” He paused a second as he wanted to say the right word. “bar” He was not sure if they said the word local or neighborhood so he left both out.
“Do they say the word local or neighborhood in Louisiana. They left it out in California and in Hawaii it was a different term all together.”
Tiber said opening the door to his past just enough to invite questions but not enough that she would feel obligated to ask. As she pushed the door opened for him, He just smiled. As he figured the gesture meant that she showing her independence from the gender roles that people fell into. It was interesting factoid to be filed away as Tiber usually didn’t believe in gender roles anyway. One of the best marksman in his group was named Lydia. Taking in the nuances of the club, Tiber tried not to look too much the tourist but he figured it was pretty much open to everyone, not that he cared. They could read into the situation as they want.
Chidera ordered something that he could only assume had some blood alcohol content. He ordered a burger with everything on it. And a bottle of fat tire. At her comment He again gave her a grin.
“Yea and they even assumed I would come along too.”
He said as knew she was flirting and he made it a point of pride to give as better than he got.

She watched his reaction and was genuinely amused by him, the commentary about locals made her think. They probably did have a name for them but for the most part she had found they just knew each other some how. Like a smell or feeling and it definitely came out in how they spoke. It was a thick patoi of slang and english, that you had to hear a lot to pick up and understand. She still spoke like an outsider and had a weird blend of african, european and new york going on so she came across at times sounding rushed angry cultured and possibly arrogant all in one to two words without meaning to.
" mostly its culture they can tell by fashion and speak where you are from and that you are not local but its such a stew here no one really cares long as you show them no judgement and a readiness to be something other then a drunk stupid tourist."
They seemed to tolerate tourist the same way vampires tolerated busy body humans, politely enough and willing to show them around but not all that sad to see them leave when it mattered. Transplants were different they welcomed new blood to the city and seemed to want to learn how best to make you like it here to stay.
" ohh so smooth nice." she laughed softly at his returned flirtation and was having a genuinely good time, when the food arrived and drinks she nodded to the waiter and then took a sip of the thick jamaican style beer mixed in quarter with blood and spiced with ginger. Sipping it happily and swaying to the music, for a moment, then spotting that same little pickpocket. She tried not to be annoyed and took a deep breath but reached out to see what she was supposed to do about her.

Chidera eyes flickered for the briefest of seconds. There was some bright and shiny about them, she even seemed to laugh at his humor then they reflected less mirth and almost turned serious then she tuned out for less than the span of a heart beat. Something happened that Tiber was not privy to. On Instinct he began looking around in hopes of taking the pieces that he did know and creating a plausible explanation as to what had just happened. Failing that he sniffed the area, his beast crained its massive head around looking for anything of interest, nothing was around save food and meat, one of which humans fell into, it was just unsure which bucket to slot them into. And the booze taking note of all of this again it shown disinterest at the situation.
“Chidera is everything all right?” Tiber asked giving up on trying to figure the situation out which so few clues. He figured that the problem could not be major as A they were in a well-stocked club teaming with normals, B No one was armed, at least not with guns or silver. And finally no one was on the ground bleeding their life’s essence into the flood. While this could change he did not see any indication of it at the moment.
He watched her eyes. If what they say was true a vampire an lie with their voice, they can train their face, but in his life he never met a person who could lie with their eyes. Even though he had hear of vampires who could roll someone. If she would do something as illegal as that it would change the meaning of what time they spent together, he was prepared for either eventually but he had hoped she would play it straight with him. It was nice having a friend in the Big easy, he did not want to let it go so quickly.

Gates stood outside of Le Maison's compound waiting on his quarry to come to him. Chidera's question had him turn his attention towards her. he considered the presence of the pickpocket as she moved her locales. It would seem as if the issue needed tending before she found herself in a even more dire straits. She was desperate enough to engage in her activities but smart enough to target predominantly tourists. Tsking he sent a message merely to watch as these matters generally settled themselves. Either she would come to the mortal authorities or she would come to the attention of other mortals not of the law abiding variety.
Her survival would depend on what she would do in the next few nights. He would allow normal natural consequences to take hold of the matter. If she survived the weekend he might expend some energy in seeing to her. There were certain facts that remained immutable namely being he couldn't save everyone from themselves. Though even if it were completely within his power he wasn't sure if he would. Everyone deserved a chance not everyone took that opportunity and bettered themselves. It was a confounding aspect of humanity that made it easy to ponder why exert the effort.

Orders received and smirked at, she realized her companion had seen and turned to look at him with a clear gaze, " Nothing to bother some just someone not listening to what they had been told the other night. My orders are to leave them be but incase dont ever let that little ragga muffin rub against you or your might find your self light of some cash..ya get me?"
She sneakily pointed the female in question out with a half stretch finger pointed at the woman and her retreating figure. Oh yes she was playing a dangerous game the little mortal but sometimes humans did dangerous things that would get them hurt and be ill advised. Hands back on the table she looked him over and bit her lip then smiled again. Taking a chance she waggled her brow at him" So Im sitting here and I know you can eat but can you dance?"
Yes that was a challenge and she had thrown down the gauntlet to him, wanting to see what he had since she was supposed to be doing fun things. Things that had nothing to do with her place in the kiss or duties she normally maintained. Moving to the beat being a bit cheesy and making little winky nodding things like she had seen cheerleaders in movies do trying to persuade him. Had anyone but him seen her right then shed probably be chagrined but at the moment she didn't care.
